...great things begin with small steps
Anna Balyshina-Ivanchenko
CBDO GawKit
The pet parent of the French bulldog Milka
"I always knew that I would have a dog from the shelter. We prepared very consciously for the arrival of a new member of the family. A dog is not a toy - it is a living being that needs to be given time for education and interaction.
Animals are always sincere and faithful when we give them love. We have something to learn from them in order to become better in our relations with other people."
Alina Kapustyan
Founder of GawKit
Vet nutritionist
Author of courses on dog and cat nutrition
Pet parent of a dog and three cats
"Since I was a child, I brought animals home and looked for a family for them. I could never pass by homeless animals without feeding them, because for me, pets are boundless love, they are creatures that deserve the best.
Therefore, in my work, I am happy to help owners make the lives of their pets better, safer and happier!"
Lesya Danileyko
Obedience instructor, specialist in dog and cat behavior, author of numerous online courses on solving behavioral problems, and speaker at P2PForum 2021.
Petparent of 2 dogs and 4 cats.
“I've come a long way from the theory of dominance to telling my dogs, 'Come, please,' and taking care of their needs. Would I like to go back in time and correct my mistakes? - Yes indeed. Could I have acted differently? - At that time and with that knowledge - no way. Learning, a lot of learning, has led me to where I am now and I have no plans to stop. I am signing up for new advanced training courses. I want to share my knowledge so that modern information helps people cope with the difficulties of pet parenting without violence and with respect to animals.
I worked as a groomer before working in pet behavior. My boyfriend and I met while walking dogs, and now we both work in this field. So for me, animals are my life, without exaggeration.”
Sofiia Seliukova
Dog behavior specialist
Pet parent of the beagle named Papsi and the cat named Miki
"I was always interested in one question: - "If we meet life from another planet, how will we get along, how will we communicate with each other?"
It turned out that to answer this question it is not necessary to look for UFOs - animals that live next to us, on our planet, are beings with a rich emotional inner world, but it is often difficult for us, people, to find a common language with them due to the difference in our species' communication, sometimes due to outdated ideas about animals as functional robots, called to serve humanity.
I consider my main task in my work to help representatives of two different species understand each other, which will make the lives of both people and their companions more full and happy.”
Hanna Pedak
Biologist
Technical specialist
Pet parent of two dogs Teddy and Lucky
"When our first dog appeared in our family, I could not even imagine how my life would change. One of the greatest gifts that my pets gave me is the feeling of true love and loyalty. Which people sometimes lack.
Remember, "“You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.”
Every day is a new chance to do something better, learn from mistakes and take a small step forward.
Only together can we create a world where pets are surrounded by proper care and understanding."

SMM specialist
I have a dog Goofy from the shelter
Fate gave me a brave four-legged friend. He is my savior, a soul rehabilitator and an incentive to be a better version of myself.
I still naively believe in humanity that can truly love animals…Because this is what harmony is.

.... if they could talk
Miki and PapsiPet parent Sofiia Seliukova
Miki and Papsi, a British shorthair and a beagle, we call them brothers because they are about the same age. Miki is one month older than Papsi. It was a stupid dream, to have a cat and a dog who would be friends and cuddle together, "like in that video." This dream came true, but not by itself, it required a lot of management, additional resources for Miki and training for Papsi. And also - some tears and discussions about finding a new home for one of them.
Now Papsi and Miki are playing with each other. Miki hunts Papsi’s tail and Papsi licks Miki. They can relax together and plan various mischiefs together. One day, Miki dropped a chocolate chip cookie from the table right into Papsi's mouth - he just likes to watch "people running around, fussing."
Miki is the most gentle and social cat, ever. He likes to communicate with people when guests come over, although on his own terms - he does not like to sit on someone's lap at all. He boldly explores our building’s entrance, but sits timidly in the bushes on the outside walks. I like to do clicker training with him, just for fun. When I practice at home with Papsi, Miki always takes an active part - either running around or trying to steal treats. I get the most pleasure when he independently decides to lie down next to me.
Papsi is a troublemaker. He likes to run very fast, smell the tracks of wild animals in the forest (we only look at them from afar), sing songs of his tribe - he is a real drama queen, every event in his life is accompanied by a howl. Sometimes, it seems to us that the most frustrating thing for him is the fact that while he is sitting at home, someone in the world is eating something without him!
Saxon, Eva, Asya and SemyonPet parent Alina Kapustyan
Saxon is 3 years old, a dog who chose his own home and pet parent.
Unfortunately, his story began with the fact that he was simply thrown out and he wandered around the village until he came across one yard where he met Alina. It was a small puppy with bald spots, very thin and with sad eyes.
He also contracted the distemper, a disease with a 90% fatality rate, but he survived
Now Sax is a real boss who likes to control everything that happens around him. His only weakness is his first ball, which he still incredibly likes to play with
Eva (the gray one), 5 years old, is one of the kittens that was abandoned by her mother and survived.
A cat with an incredibly thuggish character, a "tomboy" and a bully who knows how to get her way, a cat who has a core. You can say about her that she is by herself, because she does not like caress and interaction, but this will not make me love her any less, because she is an individual.
Asya (the three-colored one) is about 9 years old, a cat from another litter of free-ranging domestic cats who was brought to the village, because no one would take them
An incredibly smart cat that will find a common language with anyone. For example, in the village she lived with a shepherd dog in the same hut, went out to meet people together and generally behaved like a dog
Now Asya really likes to sit on your lap, likes to communicate in her cat language and wants to receive a large portion of love🙌
Semen (the black one), about 7 years old. Another manipulative ad on Olx "I will give a purebred cat in good hands. There are 2 days, then he will go to live on the street, because our child has an allergy".
Fast forward to a few hours later the frightened, unsocialized Semyon sits under my bathtub and is afraid to get out.
Difficult first months, but we coped and "A cat that doesn't like to play, only eats, sleeps and goes to the toilet", turned into an incredibly cute and gentle cat.
MilkaPetparent Anna Balyshina-Ivanchenko
Milka, a French bulldog. Her whole family was saved by volunteers from illegal breeding. Milka was taken home at the age of only 8 weeks. She really likes to fall asleep on my lap. She is active and very social, she gets along with both small and large breeds, but she likes to be in charge and is quite jealous. Milka has changed our lives from head to toe ❤️
Tisha and HelgaPetparent Lesya Danileyko
Mixed breed dog Tisha, was found by volunteers near the highway near Kyiv, with a broken head. Now he is about 9 years old. The previous fate, as well as the exact age, are unknown to us. What is known for sure is that he has not lost faith in people, and is ready to "sell" himself to anyone who’ll scratch behind his ear.
He is a real street dog who would be able to feed himself on the street and argue with other males for territory. Instead, he has to sleep on an orthopedic mattress, learn tricks, confine himself from mud baths and be polite.
Helga is a beagle, with all the consequences that follow from this fact. She is 9 years old, and she spends about two-thirds of her time sleeping and looking for treats. She has eaten a million inedible objects, including a metal baby car and leather buckled boots. Her superpower is to catch the treat from any position and in any trajectory. Her weakness is rain, so we have to carry an umbrella over her.
Helga does not recognize personal boundaries and above all values her comfort. Therefore, if she needs to lay her ass on our face for convenience, so be it.
Teddy and LuckyPetparent Hanna Pedak
Teddy is a Labrador retriever. My first dog in "adult life". Having a dog as a child and having a dog as an adult are two different things, as it turns out. Teddy is almost 5 years old. He is a very active and inquisitive dog who is always ready for adventure. With him, we have come a long way to realizing what place a dog should occupy in a person's life. Yes, he is not perfect, he is a brawler, but I accept him as he is. We learned to negotiate with him, and our life became quite comfortable.
Lucky has a completely different story. We found him on the road. He was hit by a car. He was about 5 months old. When they took him to the hospital, they found out that he had a broken leg. Almost 3 months of severe rehabilitation awaited us ahead (and the absence of vaccination made itself felt). So we missed the most precious time - the time of socialization. Now he has some behavior problems, they are fear of loneliness, fear of strangers (and therefore almost all) people, aggression towards other animals (except his older friend Teddy). Now he is 1 year old - and we are on a difficult path to overcome all these problems. Sometimes it is difficult. But his look gives me the understanding that everything will work out for us. And how you probably have guessed his name is Lucky because he was lucky to survive.
